In 2019, Deena went freelance. Following a three-month cross-country adventure, she is now serving clients in Burlington and beyond as a facilitator, writer/editor, designer and storyteller.
For more than 20 years, Deena worked in Vermont's energy and public utility world. At VELCO, she facilitated the nation's first statewide stakeholder process dedicated to electric transmission planning, managing a committee comprised of public representatives, utilities, renewable generation developers, and other interests. Her work helped Vermont save half a billion dollars of electric grid investments. She managed VELCO's strategic planning process, and played a key role in organization development and strategic communications.
Before joining VELCO, Deena served as Executive Director of the Vermont Public Utility Commission (formerly the Public Service Board) and as the first Director of Consumer Affairs & Public Information at the Department of Public Service.
Deena tells Moth-style stories at venues around New England including appearances on the Flynn main stage and at the Boston Women in Comedy Festival. She is the co-producer of Storytelling VT, a monthly event in Burlington, and teaches business people to be more effective communicators through storytelling techniques.
